I build Shopify stores — and the systems around them.
I'm Augustijn, an independent Shopify developer and consultant. I work directly with ecommerce teams to turn technical problems, ambitious ideas and messy backlogs into things that actually work.
The person in the call is the person doing the work.
I've spent more than seven years working with Shopify — across freelance work, agency teams and complex ecommerce projects. That experience shaped how I work today: close to the business, close to the code and without unnecessary layers in between.
Sometimes that means improving a storefront week by week. Sometimes it is a migration, a subscription setup, an integration or a technical problem that does not fit neatly into a standard service. I like the work where understanding the commercial context matters just as much as writing the code.
Technical depth without losing sight of the business.
I work across the parts of Shopify that tend to overlap when a store becomes more ambitious.
Shopify development
Custom storefront work, themes, functions, product experiences and the details that make a store work better.
Commerce architecture
Thinking through how Shopify, apps, APIs and external systems should fit together before building the solution.
Migrations & integrations
Moving complex commerce setups to Shopify and connecting the systems that need to keep working around it.
Subscriptions & retention
Recurring commerce experiences that go beyond adding a subscription widget to a product page.
Technical direction
A senior technical perspective when the team needs to decide what to build, what not to build and how to approach it.
Ongoing partnership
Reserved monthly capacity for teams that want someone who already understands their store and can keep moving it forward.
Understand the problem. Challenge the brief when needed. Build the right thing. Keep the communication simple.
No account-management layer between the conversation and the implementation.
Senior enough to zoom out. Technical enough to build it myself.
The best ecommerce work usually sits somewhere between strategy and implementation. I deliberately stay on both sides.
Understand the context
What is the business actually trying to improve, and what is getting in the way?
Make the technical call
Choose the simplest architecture that solves the real problem without creating unnecessary complexity.
Build it properly
I stay involved in the implementation instead of handing the work to another developer after the strategy call.
Learn and improve
Once something is live, the next decisions should come from what customers and the business actually need.
Mountains, Munich and a slightly unusual route into development.
When I'm not working on Shopify, there's a good chance I'm somewhere outside. I love hiking, spending time in the mountains and discovering new places — with Munich being a particular favourite. The combination of city life and having the Alps almost around the corner is hard to beat.
Before moving fully into development, I spent several years working as a sushi chef. Quite a different career, but probably part of why I still enjoy work where craft, details and getting things exactly right matter.

Tell me what you're working on.
If it needs senior Shopify thinking and someone who can actually build the solution, there is a good chance I can help.
